Super Bowl Chili Chop-fest
Went to George's to hang and eat chili and watch the big game on Sunday after a very low-key weekend at home. Everything was going well until, while washing a 7-inch Santoku knife I hacked into my index finger very deeply. There was blood. I think I swore a time or two (I know, shocking). Damian accompanied me to the drugstore to get a splint and first aid supplies, which I managed to leave at George's last night.. D'oh! My real doctor friends say I'll live and all is well. I do hope that pesky numbness goes away though.
In other news, the icy winter weather has settled into NYC. It sucks to walk 15 blocks in 8 degree weather! All the Con-Ed stacks were working today as well, making steam and electricity. Wish some of it got to my apartment.

Damn it's difficult to type.

I have a Santoku knife that we sell, and I'm totally scared of it. It's the best knife I own but never use :)

We have a ten inch Global chef's knife that I used to remove the end of my thumb last summer. It was hanging from a flap of skin. All of the ER-types were surprised at how clean the cut was, but evidently because it was so clean they could just place the two pieces and tape it back together!
Since that incident we now treat our Globals like Happy Fun Ball (no taunting them, no staring directly at them, etc).
