Fresh Powder
It was cloudy this morning at 8 am. By 9:00 we were on the lift at Deer Valley and the flurries were starting to fall. At 10 it was coming down pretty good. By noon I looked like this. Thankfully the beard kept me warm while sliding down the mountain, in the back country, out of bounds (accidentally) and hiking out. By the afternoon we had at least 7 inches of fresh powder (maybe 8... who's counting) as we deftly avoided the aspens. Fabulous. Powdery. Deep. Transcendent. Snow.
And then I fell into a drift and collided with a hundred-year-old conifer. I made it out alive. In fact, I'm injury-free (knock on wood) thus far. We were all wiped out after skiing and then went back to the jacuzzi. In the snow. Yeah.
Then I did something I didn't even know I had wanted to do my whole life.
I had a snowball fight with my buddies - in a heated pool!
Now I need a few beers and some food to complete a nearly perfect day.
